Hierve el Agua
One of only two petrified waterfalls in the world with natural infinity pools
Overview
Hierve el Agua features stunning petrified waterfalls—one of only two in the world (the other is in Turkey). Mineral deposits have formed over millennia to create the appearance of cascading water frozen in stone, with cliffs dropping 30+ meters. Natural spring-fed infinity pools overlook the dramatic valley below, offering one of Mexico's most unique swimming experiences. The site includes hiking trails down to the base of the petrified falls for spectacular photography. IMPORTANT: Check if the site is open before going—it has closed periodically due to community disputes.
