Huasteca Potosina
Mexico's most spectacular waterfalls—turquoise cascades through lush jungle
Overview
The Huasteca Potosina is Mexico's premier adventure tourism region, centered around Ciudad Valles 4–5 hours east of San Luis Potosí. This jungle paradise delivers the country's most dramatic waterfalls, with the 105-meter Cascada de Tamul being the crown jewel—San Luis Potosí's tallest waterfall, accessible only by a 4-kilometer panga boat ride through a stunning canyon. The region offers waterfall jumping at Cascadas de Micos, 105-meter rappelling at Minas Viejas, swimming in the underground Cueva del Agua, and the crystalline Puente de Dios natural pool. Best experienced as a multi-day trip (2–4 days minimum) to cover highlights without rushing.
