La Media Luna
Thermal spring with 30–60 meter visibility and mammoth skeletons at the bottom
Overview
La Media Luna is a crescent-shaped thermal spring near Río Verde, maintaining a constant 28°C (82°F) year-round with extraordinary visibility reaching 30–60 meters. The spring is fed by seven underground vents, creating crystal-clear water ideal for swimming, snorkeling, and diving. For certified divers, the real attraction lies at the bottom: preserved mammoth and other prehistoric animal skeletons discovered in the depths. The site offers discovery diving programs for beginners wanting to experience this unique underwater archaeology. At just 30 pesos for swimming/snorkeling entry, this is one of Mexico's best-value natural attractions.
